There is a stretch of highway between Chilliwack and Abbotsford BC where the road follows the valley - fields framed by mountains. One of my fondest memories is driving along this stretch with friends while listening to Animal Collective's "Merriweather Post Pavilion". There was something about that drive that fit perfectly with the music. The lyrics reverberated from the snow topped mountains while the synths rolled endlessly over the fields and the beat propelled us forward. The music provided the context for the passing scenery.
The truth is, I've been lucky enough to have plenty of moments like this. Whether its Boards of Canada on the train between Vancouver and Mission, Burial on the night-bus, Oneohtrix Point Never on the ferry to the island, or Com Truise on the Skytrain to Surrey. This sounds have provided the context for those journeys and given meaning to the images - both strange and beautiful - passing beyond the glass of windows.
This is my debut album. It contains a number of songs that attempt to immerse you in these moments of imagery. I hope you enjoy them.
